Instructions
This simulation shows how you can recover distilled water and salt from a salt solution. The target is to recover as much water as possible in the 3 minute run time.
Fill the still by opening the feed valves (click on up arrow). Be careful not to overfill it.
When you have adequate solution in the still, you can turn on the heating steam (again click on up arrow) to bring the contents up to their boiling point (approx 103C). When the temperature reaches the boiling point, water is evaporated and the solution becomes more concentrated in salt. Be careful to turn the steam down at this point (down arrow); otherwise salt solution will be carried over into the receiver to contaminate the pure water product.
When the solution becomes sufficiently concentrated, salt crystals will start to form.
